How to create text as a part

Now you are in the part modeling window of PTC Creo Parametric. Go to extrude and select the plane to create the sketch. Now click the sketch view and now you are in the sketch window of Creo parametric. To create a text in the sketch follow the below procedure carefully.

Step 1: Selecting the text tool

Select the text tool from the sketching group in the ribbon. Draw a line connecting two points that describe the start point and endpoint of the text. The distance between the start point and endpoint denotes the height and orientation of the text. After drawing the line, a construction line with an arrowhead appears that describes the direction of the text. Then, a new window named text will appear on your screen.

Step 2: Creating text and font

Now you are in the text window and here you have to provide some pieces of information regarding your text. At first, enter the text that you have to create as a part. Then select the font style as per your requirement. You can also use emojis.

Step 3: Defining alignment

After selecting the font select the position of the text based on the start point and endpoint as per your requirement. There are two sections in the orientation section namely horizontal and vertical. First, define the horizontal alignment.

     1. Click the dropdown arrow and select anyone from the right, center, and left.
            a) Right - it will align the text to the right of the line you have drawn.
            b) Center it will align the text as a line you have drawn lies in the center of your text.
            c) Left - it will align the text to the left of the line you have drawn.

    2. Now, define the vertical alignment. Click the dropdown arrow and anyone from the top, center, and bottom.
            a) Top - it will align the text to the top of the line you have drawn.
            b) Center it will align the text as a line you have drawn lies in the center of your text.
            c) Left - it will align the text to the bottom of the line you have drawn.

Step 4: Setting up the aspect ratio

After defining the text alignment, the next step is to set the aspect ratio. Before setting up the aspect ratio let us understand what is aspect ratio? The aspect ratio of the text is the ratio of its width to height. You can change the aspect ratio by using the slide bar given there.

Step 5: Providing slant angle

The next step to create a text in the Creo parametric sketch is setting the slant angle. If you wish to make your text with some slant angle, you can set the slant angle by adjusting the slide bar or by entering the angle in the text box given below.

Step 6: Spacing

The next step is to give spacing between each letter. You can increase and decrease the spacing by just adjusting the slide bar given next to spacing or enter the spacing value in the text box given next to spacing.

Step 7: Kerning

Kerning is used to control the space between specific pairs of letters. To enable kerning tick the check box previous to kerning.

Note: The place along curve option is not used here. We will discuss it when we are using may be in the upcoming tutorials.

Step 8: Concluding

After completing all the above 7 steps click OK to apply all the given information to your text and sketch. Click the scroll button of your mouse to exit from the text tool.

Step 9: Extruding

Once you exit from the text tool you will be back to the sketch window click the green color tick icon on the ribbon to confirm your sketch. Then you will be redirected to the extrude window. By default, it will automatically apply some thickness to your sketch. But, you can add thickness manually as per your requirement. You can also change the direction of extruding by just flipping. Once you are satisfied with the thickness click the green color tick icon on the ribbon. Then you can add appearance as your wish.
