What is Creo? Let's know about creo user interface in this tutorial

  What is Creo?

Creo, formerly known as Pro-Engineer is multipurpose 3D modeling software for CAD, CAM, CAE which is developed by PTC. This intelligent 3D CAD software deals with the challenges organizations face as they design, analyze, and share. Creo runs on Microsoft Windows and provides apps for 3D CAD parametric feature solid modeling, 3D direct modeling, 2D orthographic views, Finite Element Analysis and simulation, schematic design, technical illustrations, and viewing and visualization.

What can Creo do?

Before getting started with Creo you should know what are the features of Creo. The modeling and Simulation features of Creo are,

    • 2D Drawing
    • Sheet Metal Design
    • Mechanism Design
    • Structural Framework & Weld Design
    • Fastener Design
    • Concept Design
    • Plastic Part Design
    • Industrial Design
    • Reverse Engineering
    • Multi-CAD
    • Rendering & 3D Animation
    • Assembly Management & Performance
    • Structural Analysis
    • Thermal Analysis
    • Motion Analysis

Launch screen user interface

When you open Creo Parametric the launch screen will open which contains a menu bar, navigation bar, and Creo browser.

1.The Menu Bar

The menu bar is located at the topmost area on the launch screen which contains tabs like Data, Settings, and Utilities. The Data tab contains options like New, Open, Open last session, Select working directory, Erase not displayed. The Settings tab includes Model display and System appearance.

Select Working Directory

Your working directory is a designated area for file retrieval and storage where all the objects belonging to the project are saved. You must specify the working directory before you start a new project or new session. If you are not selected a working directory it will save the models to the default directory which is a C drive. If all the parts required in a single project were not saved in a single directory which leads to a loss of a part that is indicated as red color in the model tree.

System Appearance

The background color and working space color is edited by using the system appearance icon in the settings tab.

2. The Navigation Bar

The Navigation bar is located at the left end of the launch screen. The Navigation bar contains the Model tree, Folder browser, and Favorite folder.
