Opening a new file
In Creo, at the top left of the launch screen, the new option is located. To create a new workspace click on the new icon which shows a popup window that has two categories named type and subtype.
The type category contains,
- Layout
- Sketch
- Part
- Assembly
- Manufacturing
- Drawing
- Format
- Notebook
Workspace selection
Is it important to select the right workspace? Yes, It is very important to select the right workspace. Before selecting the workspace, you should know what is a workspace? As the name suggests workspace is an area you are going to perform your project that is a drawing or designing area. The workspace varies for each type mentioned above.
Before selecting a workspace you should decide what you are going to do like 2D drawing, part modeling, or assembly.
- For 2D Drawing - Sketch
- For Part Modelling - Part
- To assemble all the parts - Assembly
- To create drawing sheet - Drawing
Template Selection
Before selecting your template you should know the unit system that you are going to use for your project. The template selection dialogue box will appear once you select the type of your new file. The available unit systems are inches lbs, millimeters newton second, etc.
